WASHINGTON -- President Obama loves rhythm & blues singer Al Green, and now legendary singer Al Green is about to receive a major national honor.
Green is among the five artists who will receive this year's Kennedy Center honors. The national awards for influencing American culture through the arts will also honor Academy Award winner and Oakland native Tom Hanks, singer Sting, actress & comedian Lily Tomlin and ballerina Patricia McBride.
They will be celebrated by top entertainers, as well as the President at a December 7 gala in Washington, D.C.
