SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Bay Area residents who haven't already mailed in their ballots are getting ready to head to their polling places to cast their votes in the highly anticipated presidential election.

Across the state of California, polls are now open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. If you're voting in-person, just make sure you are in line by 8 p.m.
If you haven't mailed your ballot yet, make sure it's postmarked by today. You can also drop it off at a polling place or drop box.
With Election Day finally upon us, the push to get voters to the polls is more intense than ever.
Even if you haven't registered to vote yet, there is still time to do it at the polls.
In San Mateo County, Supervisor David Canepa says there are around 70,000 unregistered potential voters.
Canepa spent a part of Monday, trying to convince some of those people to vote on Tuesday.
"Going into a voting center like the one behind me and having the ability to show an ID and being able to cast their vote. It's a conditional vote, but it's a vote that matters and counts," Canepa said.
And it's not just happening in the Peninsula.
In San Francisco, there's also a big push to get people out to the polls- especially those who might not have voted in the past.
For the past several weeks, people At Manny's cafe have been making thousands of calls to voters in the swing state of Nevada, trying to convince folks to vote for Kamala Harris.
Republicans too are trying to turn out their voting base.
John Dennis is the chair of the San Francisco Republican Party.
He says since 2020, Republicans have registered millions of people across the country, and thousands here in California.
Dennis believes those voters could be crucial in several important statewide ballot measures, as well as important seats in the House of Representatives.
"The polls are not capturing those new registered voters. And those kinds of folks tend to vote," Dennis said.
Around 83 million people have already voted early around the country, including 8 million Californians.
San Francisco mayoral hopeful Mark Farrell has agreed to pay a $108,179 settlement to the city's Ethics Commission after it alleged Farrell violated campaign finance rules. The figure is the largest settlement in the commission's history.
The SFEC alleges Farrell took $93,000 from his political action committee in support of Proposition D, and then improperly funneled that cash into his own campaign for mayor, according to the settlement agreement. Legally, a PAC can receive unlimited donations, while campaign committees are limited to receiving individual contributions up to $500.
