Medline addresses employees' displacement, supply chain concerns
Medline, the company whose 1 million-square-foot warehouse is at the center of the massive fire in Tracy, released an update Saturday on what it's doing to support its employees and customers.
The massive fire has displaced about 1,000 workers and has disrupted the transport of medical supplies from a major distribution hub to healthcare providers throughout Northern California.
Here is Medline's full statement:
Our priority right now is supporting our team after the fire that impacted this Medline distribution facility. We remain incredibly grateful that all Medline employees and on-site personnel were safely evacuated and accounted for.
- We have connected with nearly all affected employees and are offering onsite and local support, resources including financial support and counseling services, and continued communication as we work through next steps together.
- We are committed to robustly supporting our local employees during this time, and are identifying opportunities to return to work in the near term.
We are also intensely focused on serving our customers -- healthcare providers in Northern California and beyond. Our command center was set up immediately on Thursday, June 11, and has been working continuously 24 hours-a-day to maintain service and execute Medline's network contingency plan that incorporates secondary and tertiary distribution centers.
- Medical products previously distributed through the Tracy facility have already been reassigned, and the vast majority of order lines have been rerouted to other Medline distribution centers within our regional network to support our customers' needs.
- We have also boosted regional staffing, regional inventory and transportation capacity through increased use of MedTrans trucks, third-party carriers, and truck relay operations to accelerate product movement throughout the impacted region.
We continue to work with local authorities to investigate the situation and the impact on the local community, and will continue to share updates as more information becomes available.
