SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- San Francisco police are searching for the man who opened fire on Market Street in San Francisco on Tuesday.

The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. near 6th Street and incited chaos and fear in the area. A man can be seen on video shooting a handgun in broad daylight. ABC7 News asked SFPD Spokesperson Officer Robert Rueca Wednesday if he had seen the video.

"I saw it on your broadcast," Officer Rueca said. "Anyone with surveillance video like that, we ask that they hand it over to the police for our investigation."

According to investigators, one person was assaulted by the suspect. The person's injuries are considered non-life-threatening. It's not clear if the suspect and victim knew each other or what led up to the gunfire.

"Violent incidents like this are shocking to any neighborhood," Officer Rueca said. "In that area of Market, we actually have assigned foot beats that patrol the area. At the time of the incident, the foot beat was not there to witness that."

However, police said the foot beat officers were around the corner and heard the shots fired.

Investigators are interviewing witnesses and reviewing video from the scene. Anyone with information can contact their anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444.
