Oakland man charged with rape, human trafficking of 13-year-old girl

OAKLAND, Calif. -- An 18-year-old Oakland man has been charged with rape and human trafficking for allegedly holding a 13-year-old girl as a prisoner for a month while sexually assaulting her and forcing her to work as a prostitute.

Ahmad Daniels, who was arraigned in Alameda County Superior Court Monday, is also charged with performing a lewd act on a child and has a prior conviction of second-degree robbery.

Daniels is being held at the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin in lieu of $600,000 bail.

Oakland police Officer Natasha Coral wrote in a probable cause statement that while Daniels kept the girl as a prisoner, he raped her five times, forced her to perform oral copulation two times, and forced her into prostitution.

Police found the captive girl the night of Sept. 29 at an apartment complex in the 800 block of 69th Avenue when they responded to a fight with people who Coral described as, "unknown co-defendants."

Coral said officers searched the residence of Daniels and other victims but couldn't find anyone. They arrested Daniels when he returned to the complex shortly before 9 p.m. that night.

According to Coral, the girl told police that Daniels threatened her with violence if she didn't comply with his order that she engage in prostitution.
