According to authorities, at around 3:12 p.m. the kite-surfer was setting up his board when a gust of wind carried him into the southbound lane of traffic where he was struck by a vehicle.
The pedestrian was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with life threatening injuries.
Southbound traffic at Great Highway/Lincoln will be shut down until the Traffic Collision Investigation Unit completes their investigation.
