SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) --
Officer Robby Chon is still in critical condition at San Francisco General Hospital, but we have new word from his department that he's showing definite signs of improvement.RELATED: GoFundMe for South San Francisco officer exceeds goal
"He is talking a little bit," Said Sgt. Ken Chetcuti. "He's able to move some of his extremities. he's able to open his eyes and he's responding."
The 12 year veteran of the force, and father of two boys was chasing 28-year-old Luis Alberto Ramos on Grand Avenue on Thanksgiving.
Ramos took off on his skateboard and allegedly hit officer Chon with it, knocking him unconscious.
The suspect's mother tells ABC7 News her son has mental health issues.
Ramos is being held at the South San Francisco County Jail and has been charged with attempted murder.
Ramos had been convicted of assault with a deadly weapon before.
A GoFundMe page set up by a fellow officer was set up to help Chon and his family. It has raised huge money, 107,000 in just four days.

The community has also organized a vigil for officer Chon Monday night at 7 p.m. outside the South San Francisco police station.
