BERKELEY, Calif. -- Power has been restored to 5,800 PG&E customers in Berkeley following an outage on Monday.

The outage was reported at 11:36 a.m. and affected 5,864 customers along Martin Luther King Jr. Way between University Avenue and Berryman Street, as well as other nearby areas, PG&E spokeswoman Mayra Tostado said.

Roughly half of the affected customers had power restored as of shortly after 1 p.m., and the remaining ones were back in service as of 3:20 p.m., Tostado said.

PG&E crews remain in the area making repairs and the cause of the outage is under investigation.
