SANTA ANA, Calif. -- Three teenage girls carrying bags of candy were killed while trick-or-treating Friday evening in a hit-and-run crash in Santa Ana.
A vehicle driving eastbound in the 1400 block of East Fairhaven Avenue at a high speed at about 6:45 p.m. struck the girls while they were walking in the crosswalk.
Witness Addie Ayala said possibly three male suspects jumped out of a gray Nissan Pathfinder and fled the scene on foot. She added the girls seemed to be texting while crossing the street.
No other information was immediately available.
