VALLEJO, Calif. -- An abducted Vallejo girl remains missing.

Investigators now saying their strongest lead in the search for 15-year-old Pearl Pinson has turned up empty. Pinson was last seen Wednesday.

Search teams from four counties and California State Parks calling off the search in the coastal town of Jenner.

"We believe search teams conducted a thorough search. We are confident Pearl is not here," said Christine Castillo with the Solano County Sheriff's Department.

The one man who may know where she is, Fernando Castro, died in a shootout with police.

Police shot and killed 19-year-old Castro after a high speed chase. They say he abducted Pearl near this Vallejo footbridge Wednesday morning.

Neighbors describe Castro as a good kid. One neighbor says his family is shocked.

"We were really shocked because we know that he was a good kid," said one of the neighbors, who did not want to be identified.

"There were a lot of unmarked police cars and they were going back and forth with the police dogs inside the house," said the neighbor.

Meantime Pearl's family members continue to walk the footbridge above Interstate 780.

"I know some of us are very stoic but on the inside we're hurting," explained Ginalisa Pinson, a cousin. "Even if we just stay in this area, we are hoping more and more people see us here."

Pink balloons and signs line the footbridge - reminders Pearl's family is not giving up hope.

Meanwhile, Castro's neighbor says his family is grieving.

"They're crying and they're shaking, especially the mom. I think she shocked."

A GoFundMe account has been set up by the family to help find Pearl.
