SUGAR LAND, TX -- A huge alligator was captured at a strip center Saturday morning in Sugar Land, Texas.
The gator -- blind in one eye -- weighs more than 800 pounds and is more than 12 feet long. Wrangling the animal at the First Colony Commons Shopping Center proved quite the task for authorities. A Home Depot forklift had to be used to lift the gator onto the back of a truck.
Authorities believe the alligator came from Oyster Creek, which runs behind the shopping center.
Christy Krobroth, the alligator trapper who captured the animal, says he will be sent to an alligator sanctuary called Janik Aligators in El Campo. She says he will be put in breeding program where he will "make lots of babies."
Krobroth tells us the animal got lost and ended up in the strip center parking lot.
