OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- ABC7 News was in downtown Oakland Wednesday morning for the seasonal start of the Oakland Walking Tours.
Eight different routes are offered, including areas in Old Oakland, Chinatown, and the city's waterfront neighborhood.
It's a tour that organizers hope will slow down the effects of gentrification in Oakland. "I respect people who come in and want to learn something about a place, rather than just come in and say, 'oh, that's wrong. I want to change that,' without even knowing the background of what it is they are changing," Oakland Walking Tours spokesperson Gene Anderson said.
The 90-minute Oakland Walking Tours are free and offered Wednesdays and Saturdays until October.
