OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Teachers, students and parents are marching in Oakland to push for a new contract for teachers.
SKY 7 HD was over the scene of the march that went from Edna Brewer Middle School to the Oakland board of education meeting Wednesday night.
Teachers are asking for a guaranteed wage increase, smaller class sizes and protections for special education programs.
The protest march comes just one day after the Oakland Unified School District reached an agreement with 1,700 other union employees.
Teachers in the district have been negotiating a new contract for about a year.
