Tree-climbing bear surprises snowboarder at California's Northstar ski resort

TRUCKEE, Calif. (KGO) -- A snowboarder got a real treat while hitting the powder at Northstar a few days ago.

As he went through the woods he realized quickly he wasn't alone.

The snowboarder spotted a black bear climbing up a snow-covered tree.

Apparently the elements are no match for a bear on a mission, it was easily making its way toward the top.
