ARCADIA, Calif. -- A cat named Sir Thomas Trueheart has become a fan favorite on the Facebook page of an animal rescue group in Burbank.

Thomas, who also goes by Tommy, has been featured on the page because of his amazing recovery. In June, someone poured acid on Tommy's head, which left him with serious injuries. A woman found him crying on her porch and immediately took him to a veterinarian.
The veterinarian was able to treat Tommy, and the woman turned to social media to find more help for the injured cat. That's when people suggested he go to Milo's Sanctuary, an organization that gives cats a second chance at life if they have physical disabilities, special needs, are terminally ill or were abused.

The sanctuary took Tommy in and got him treatment at an animal hospital. While Tommy ended up losing an eye, he has recovered from his injuries and never lost his ability to play or be affectionate, according to the sanctuary.
On Saturday, Tommy was featured in a special show and convention called "Walk a Mile in Our Paws." The event, held in Arcadia, featured other cats with disabilities and special needs. All proceeds from the event benefited Milo's Sanctuary.
