Consumer Reports says pregnant women should avoid eating tuna, especially canned tuna, because of the high levels of Mercury. High levels of Mercury can effect brain development of an unborn child.

Earlier this summer, the EPA and the FDA suggested that pregnant women or those who are breast feeding or trying to get pregnant, try to eat up to 12 ounces of fish a week because of the protein and fatty acids.

But now, Consumer Reports says, "We're particularly concerned about canned tuna, which is second only to shrimp as the most commonly eaten seafood in the United States."
