SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- Medical marijuana dispensaries in San Jose will soon face tough new regulations.
The city council approved new rules for pot clubs last night. Starting next month, businesses must have on-site security guards and cameras. Also dispensaries will have to move out of residential areas, at least 1,000 feet from schools, and into special zones. Dispensary owners say the new rules are too strict and will make it nearly impossible to operate.
The council was deadlocked last week, voting five to five on the proposal.
Some pot clubs fear the new regulations will put them out of business.
