Former San Leandro police officer facing criminal charges over alleged misconduct with teen

SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (KGO) -- A former San Leandro Police officer is out of a job and facing criminal charges.

Marco Becerra is accused of unlawful sexual acts with a 17-year-old police explorer.

The program is for young people interested in pursuing law enforcement careers.

Investigators say the misconduct between Becerra and the girl happened while he was off duty.

Officer Becerra has resigned from the San Leandro Police Department.
