SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- San Francisco officials hope relaunching the Police Department's Cadet Academy program will inspire the next generation to join the police force.

The new Cadet Academy will prepare 30 to 40 students between 18 and 21 from violent neighborhoods to help diversify the force.

The program will also provide participants with financial support to continue their education while learning about law enforcement and engaging with officers.

The relaunch is the result of Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff and his $1.5 million donation.
