Shelter-in-place order lifted after suspected grenade found in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco police have lifted a shelter-in-place order for a block of Turk Street in the city's Tenderloin District after a suspected hand grenade was found Wednesday.

The device was found at 294 Turk Street around 12:45 p.m.

Turk Street was briefly blocked off to traffic in the area of Leavenworth Street, but was reopened to traffic shortly before 2 p.m. when the scene was deemed safe.
