Snapchat CEO defends self after frat emails made public

The CEO of the photo app Snapchat is defending himself after a series of his own emails were posted online.

While at Stanford, Evan Spiegel was a member of university's Kappa Sigma fraternity chapter. The now 23-year-old says he's mortified that messages he wrote five years ago to get fellow fraternity brothers riled up for parties at Stanford are now public.

The offensive messages were leaked to the website Valleywag.

In one of them, Spiegel wrote a pre-party message reading, "Shopping list: 1 ounce of marijuana, 1 kilo of blow. I'll roll a blunt for whoever sees the most (expletive) tonight."

The emails continue with several derogatory messages towards women.

In a statement Spiegel said, "I'm sorry I wrote them at the tim and I was (a) jerk to have written them. They in no way reflect who I am today or my views toward women."
