SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- If you love ice skating, a winter favorite is back in San Francisco.

You can hit the ice in the heart of Union Square starting Wednesday.

The Safeway Holiday Ice Rink is officially open for the season.

A grand ice-breaker ceremony got underway Wednesday morning, with a special performance by skaters from the San Francisco Tremors.

If you'd like to take a spin, it's $11 for adults and $7 for kids.

Over at Justin Herman Plaza, the Holiday Ice Rink at Embarcadero Center also opens Wednesday.

Both rinks will remain open through Jan.
