Francis Atuahene scored a 65th-minute equalizer in his MLS debut to help send visiting FC Dallas to a 2-2 draw with the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday.

On April 27, FC Dallas and San Jose played to a scoreless draw at Frisco, Texas. The rematch was much more entertaining.

FC Dallas (22 points) opened the scoring in the 27th minute on an own goal by San Jose goalkeeper Daniel Vega. On a back -- almost side -- pass from teammate Florian Jungwirth, Vega completely lost his focus and casually allowed the slow-rolling ball to go through his legs and over the line in stunning fashion.

Dallas, incidentally, was on the right side of two Seattle own goals in last weekend's 2-1 home victory that ended a winless six-game stretch.

However, the Earthquakes (19 points) came out charged up in the second half. All-time MLS goal leader Chris Wondolowski scored the 152nd of his career in the 46th minute on a stellar cross from Magnus Eriksson to equalize. Wondolowski has scored all eight of his goals this season in the past four games.

In the 54th minute, San Jose took a 2-1 lead. Eriksson drilled a ball that seemed to cross the goal line, but it hit a FC Dallas player standing inside the net and was initially ruled no goal. However, after going to video review, Eriksson was awarded his third goal of 2019 to put the hosts ahead.

Dallas, though, was not about to lie down. Coming on as a sub for his first MLS action just one minute earlier, Ghanaian midfielder Atuahene drilled a shot past an out-of-position Vega and inside the far post to equalize for FC Dallas.

Both sides followed with quality chances the rest of the way, but neither was able to come through to claim a full three points. Dallas and San Jose were minus various key contributors Saturday, due to international duty and CONCACAF Gold Cup action.
