NEW JERSEY (KGO) -- One of the Bay Area's biggest sports stars played a pivotal role in welcoming a disabled Navy veteran to his brand new, donated home in New Jersey.

ABC's "The View" teamed up with the non-profit Homes For Our Troops to build a new wheelchair accessible house for Petty officer Second Class Tim Birckhead. He suffers from a genetic condition that has made him unable to walk.

The organization along with The View's Whoopi Goldberg and Sara Haines surprised his family with the new house recently. Someone else wanted to get in on the action too.

The Birckhead family are huge fans of Warriors star Stephen Curry, so when Curry found out he could surprise and delight the deserving naval veteran -- he jumped at the opportunity.

You can watch The View on ABC7 weekdays at 10 a.m.
