Kids read mean tweets in emotional PSA against cyberbullying

Cyberbullying is no joke -- that's the point a non-profit organization is trying to push with its latest PSA showing teens reading mean tweets about themselves in a less-than-funny spoof on the popular Jimmy Kimmel bit.

Kimmel has gotten plenty of laughs on his late night show by having celebrities, sports stars and even President Barack Obama deadpan in front of a camera as they read tweets criticizing anything and everything about their existence. But the gag loses its fun when its kids reading cruel comments written by their peers.

At first a laugh track plays as the teens, who appear to be middle and high school aged, read things like, "Allan's voice is so annoying it makes me wish I was deaf."

But the chuckles fade away as the insults continue.

"Is it racist if I hate black people because of how much I h8 Sierra," one girl reads.

Finally, one girl walks off camera after reading, "No one likes you. Do everyone a favour. Just kill yourself."

"For regular kids, words can cut like a knife," Stu Auty, President of the Canadian Safe School Network, said in a press release. "Cyber-bullying is an epidemic that invades their lives and leaves many feeling like there's no way out."

The Canadian Safe School Network is raising money in hopes of buying ad space during the upcoming Stanley Cup playoffs.
