BREMERTON, WA -- A Washington woman made a big find at a thrift store that could earn her a lot of money. She found four paintings possibly done by "Simpsons" creator, Matt Groening.
Gwen Atwood was on her routine treasure hunt at the local thrift store, when she found the paintings inside an old book.
She paid a quarter for each of them. Atwood's appreciation for the art grew when she was told the paintings were probably early storyboards of Groening's and they could be worth thousands.
In an attempt to authenticate the paintings, she took them to Evergreen College where Groening attended school.
Atwood said, "Evergreen College wanted me to donate the drawings to them and I kind of...told them, 'Eat my shorts'."
An auction house is starting the bidding for the paintings at $2,000 each.
