Hydrus ferry unveiled at Pier 9 in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Commuters can now get their first look at our region's newest way to cross the bay -- it's called the Hydrus.

The Bay Area Water Emergency Transportation Authority has ordered seven of these 400 passenger vessels. The first one is on display at Pier 9. All of the boats, which are really catamarans, will be used for San Francisco Bay ferry service over the next three years.
