BERKELEY, Calif. (KGO) -- UC students are planning a systemwide walkout Monday to protest a tuition hike approved by university regents.

Protesting students at UC Berkeley took their message to the Big Game on Saturday. They dressed in green and handed out green ribbons. They were asking other students to wear the ribbons to show their opposition to the hikes.

Last week, the regents voted to raise tuition by up to five percent a year, for the next five years.

Some students are still occupying Wheeler Hall on campus. They're now trying to figure out their next move.

"We've been holding this space and we expect to hold it as long as necessary until we have the appropriate dialogue that ends the way that we want it to, which is that the burden of this financial situation is not put on the students," said UC student Maiya Moncino.

The students have been camped out at Wheeler Hall since last Wednesday.
