Bay Area PG&E crews cancel trip to Florida hurricane zone

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- PG&E had plans to send a massive team from California to help Florida Power and Light with Hurricane Matthew repairs.

About 100 utility workers were expected but the storm has not caused as much damage as anticipated, so the trip was canceled.

A member of California's Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 3 is already in the hurricane zone in charge of a support team.

San Mateo native Carl Kustin could be joined by other members of USAR team, who are on standby to deploy.

The USAR members have seen hurricane damage up close - some were deployed to Katrina in 2005.
