Storm floods South Bay mobile homes, fells tree
The severe storm has caused flooding in some parts of the South Bay and in Santa Cruz.

MILPITAS, Calif. (KGO) -- Two South Bay mobile home parks were flooded and evacuations at both properties were underway, but are voluntary.

The Motorlodge and the Friendly Village Mobile Home Park are both flooded with more than two feet of water. Milpitas firefighters are going door to door warning residents about the standing water.

The heavy rain in the meantime continues to wreak havoc all over Santa Cruz County.

Thursday morning, a massive Cypress tree split in two and fell on two students at the Gateway School in Santa Cruz.

"No broken bones, just some bruises," said Zachary Roberts of Gateway School. "The other student was checked out by medical personnel here at the campus and not transported."

The school closed immediately after and students were sent home.

In Felton Grove, residents are trying to protect their homes tonight. They're clearing storm drains while keeping a close eye on the San Lorenzo River, which is rising fast.

"It causes a level of anxiety wondering what's going to result with this amount of rain in a short period of time, anything can happen," said Perry Dibenedetto.

The concern over flooding has prompted Dibenedetto and many of his neighbors to have sandbags out and tarps up.
