SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- It was wind, not rain that contributed to several trees falling on cars and on streets in San Francisco. Some residents on Crescent Avenue in Bernal Heights were without power after a tree knocked out several power lines. PG&E crews quickly responded and fortunately no one was hurt.

The heavy winds caused a huge branch from a eucalyptus tree to fall in the Bayview District, blocking one lane of traffic. Not far away, a tree stopped traffic from flowing on 3rd Street.
"As of late afternoon, there have been up to about a dozen trees and large limbs that have come down. There have been no injuries that have been reported so far, some vehicles have been damaged. There was also a tree that came down on the cable car tracks on Hyde Street, so we sent crews out there right away," Spokesperson of Department of Public Works Rachel Gordon said.
Shortly after 1:45 p.m., a Blackwood Acacia tree fell on the Richmond District Police Department building. It is unclear at this time on whether the roof was damaged. "Just from where we can see, it doesn't look like it's particularly bad. We'll know after they take the tree out of the there and we can take a closer look at the roof. At this point, we're still are under normal operations," San Francisco Police Department Capt. Simon Silverman said.
Crews from the department of public works are expected to respond to more of these emergencies as the storm continues to make its way through the Bay Area.
