Sunnyvale spokesman John Pilger said public safety officials spotted the accident on Central Expressway near Fair Oaks Avenue at about 4 a.m. Preliminary reports indicate the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Central Expressway when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it hit the road's center divide.
Pilger said a San Jose man and a Sunnyvale man, both in their 20s, were killed in the collision.
Central Expressway was temporarily closed in both directions in the area of Fair Oaks Avenue, according to Pilger. It reopened at about 7:30 a.m.
The names of both men are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
