Skeletal remains examined by forensics in Chico

CHICO, CA

The remains were found near Napa Valley College's new entrance from state Highway 221 and Magnolia Drive on Dec. 15, according to police.

The forensic anthropologist in Chico should be able to provide a gender, height and other information within two to four weeks, said Commander. The examination should also provide an estimate of how long the remains had been in the location where they were found.

Commander said authorities are treating the death as suspicious so nothing is overlooked during the investigation, but that there is a good chance no foul play was involved.
