The driver, identified as 44-year-old Armando Hurtado of Saint Helena, allegedly ran a red light around 10:20 a.m. and struck the victim who was riding a bicycle in the 3100 block of Jefferson Street, Napa police Sgt. Debbie Peecook said. Hurtado then reportedly attempted to drive away in his Nissan pickup truck, but collided with a black Toyota sport utility vehicle in the same block, Peecook said.

The teenage bicyclist was taken to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition, according to Peecook.

The driver of the Toyota sustained minor injuries in the collision.

Hurtado allegedly threatened responding officers and tried to walk away from them before being arrested on two counts of felony hit and run, two counts of misdemeanor violation of probation and one count of resisting arrest, said Peecook.
