Police search for bank robber

Officers responded at about 9:30 a.m. to reports of an armed bank robbery at the Bank of the West at 33301 Alvarado-Niles Road, police said.

A suspect had apparently entered the bank, approached the cashier, demanded money and motioned as if he were armed, police said. After obtaining an undetermined amount of cash, the man fled on foot.

No firearm was seen in the robbery, police said.

Police created a perimeter around the bank, and a helicopter and K-9 unit were used to search for the suspect, according to the Police Department.

The man was not found, and is described as a black man in his 20s standing between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 8 inches with black hair and black eyes, police said. The man was described as having an average build and was last seen wearing a uniform that resembled a postal uniform, according to police.
