Wind advisory issued in the East Bay

The advisory was issued due to a strong pressure gradient that is expected to cause gusty northwest winds to continue over the East Bay hills and Diablo Range, affecting parts of Contra Costa, Alameda and Santa Clara counties, weather service meteorologist Steve Anderson said.

Winds in the area are expected to be between 25 mph and 35 mph with local gusts to more than 45 mph.

The weather service is advising motorists to use extra caution as strong winds can make driving difficult.

Wind speeds are expected to decrease later tonight.
