BEIJING, CHINA

She took home the bronze medal in the 800-meter freestyle relay with Team USA in 7:46.33. This is the first time the Americans have lost the event since it began in 1996.

Stephanie Rice led Australia to take home the gold in the 800-meter freestyle relay, helping the Aussies smash the world record by nearly six seconds. The Chinese women's team, made up of Yang Yu, Zhu Qianwei, Tan Miao and Pang Jiaying, took the silver.

Tuesday night, Coughlin won her first bronze medal in Beijing with her 200-meter individual medley, with her teammate, Katie Hoff, right behind her. The former Cal star has now won a gold, silver and bronze in Beijing. She is in line to become one of the most medal-winning swimmers in US history.
