Eight people shot at memorial service

OAKLAND, CA

The shooting happened last night at 10:15 at 82nd and MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland where a group of about 100 people were holding a memorial service.

Police say they found two victims at the scene. One was an 18 year old woman. She was 7 months pregnant.

The woman and her unborn baby died at the hospital. Police are calling it a double homicide.

The other victim is in critical condition.

3 other victims showed up at the hospital at a later time.

One is in critical condition and two are in stable condition.

Investigators say there are multiple suspects, with multiple guns.

Police don't believe it is a random shooting but don't have a motive at this time.

"When people go out there and shoot up a block especially with a lot of people there's a reason for it," said Oakland Public Information Officer Jeff Thomason.

Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums issued a statement asking for help from the communities.

"There are people in our communities who know who these shooters are and I urge these Oakland residents to step forward to help get these people off the street," said Mayor Dellums.

The Oakland Police Department is also offering a $40,000 reward for the arrest of the people responsible for this shooting.
