A search came up empty for a mountain lion that was allegedly struck by a vehicle Wednesday night, according to Pleasanton police.

The California Highway Patrol received a report at about 9:40 p.m. of a vehicle collision with a mountain lion on Dublin Canyon Road just west of Foothill Road.

The CHP contacted the Pleasanton Police Department, which went out to search the area.

The driver of the vehicle said the injured mountain lion got up and walked away from the collision, but authorities did not find the animal, police said.
