The Alameda County Board of Supervisors has voted unanimously to appoint veteran county employee Yolanda Baldovinos as director of the county's Social Services Agency.

Baldovinos has worked for the county for 26 years, beginning her career in 1982 in the Health Care Services Agency, where she held various positions, including assistant agency director for community health services.

In 2001, Baldovinos transferred to the Social Services Agency, where she served as director of workforce and benefits administration before becoming the interim agency director in September 2007.

Board of Supervisors President Scott Haggerty said in a statement, "Over the years Yolanda has worked on several challenging county projects and we look forward to working with her."

County Administrator Susan Muranishi said, "Yolanda is committed to leading the Social Services Agency through the difficult challenges ahead."
