SAN FRANCISCO

Officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a home in the unit block of Cortland Avenue around 2:30 a.m., San Francisco police Lt. Neville Gittens said.

Preliminary reports indicate that upon making contact with the suspect, "some kind of ... physical confrontation" ensued, and "the suspect was shot," Gittens said.

The suspect was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, he said.
