New rules considered for big TVs

The California Energy Commission is considering new energy efficiency standards for televisions sold in California starting in 2011.

The rules, if adopted, would allow the sale of those televisions considered energy efficient, and right now that could mean the banning of those larger than 52 inches.

The energy commission says the rules are needed to keep our energy consumption down and points to its rules with refrigerators that have dropper operating costs by 80 percent.
