The magician, who asked to be identified as Mr. Mystic, has been selling the $3 bars that are engraved with President-Elect Barack Obama's face in "mom and pop" stores since the beginning of the year.
"It's not a pin or a t-shirt. It's the first item that doesn't look like you just jumped on the bandwagon," Mr. Mystic said.
Mr. Mystic's bars can be found at Smoke Signals Store at 2223 Polk St. and Misdirections Magic Store at 1236 Ninth Ave. in San Francisco, among other locations.
An employee at Misdirections said the bars are popular and catch most people's eyes.
They can also be purchased at the Web site for www.obama-bar.org. for $4.
