"How to Winterize Your Hair this Season"
By Clark Russell from the show "Spilt Ends"

During the winter the elements can be harmful to your precious locks. Extreme cold, wind, heat from heaters and dryers can dry out your hair in no time. The summer sun helps produce Vitamin D and the natural oils are more present during the summer. During the winter, the lack of sun and the warm weather are not as common, thus your hair and skin are dryer. All though we always recommend talking to a professional about color and hair cutting, we have some tips that you can use at home to help winterize your hair this season. We have some great hair mask recipes that have great elements of Vitamin D and nutritive oils that your hair is guaranteed to soak up and enjoy, and the best part is, most people have them in their very own kitchens.

Avocado hair mask
Mash the flesh of one ripe organic avocado. Add 1 tablespoon of honey and 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. Mix until creamy and then apply to your hair. Leave for 20 minutes and then wash out with a gentle shampoo.

Honey and Olive oil mask
Mix 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil with 2 tablespoons of organic honey. Apply to your hair and wrap your head in plastic film or put on a shower hat. Leave for at least 30 minutes and then shampoo as usual, rinsing well.

Banana and Extra Virgin Olive Oil mask for dry, damaged hair
Mash a ripe banana and add a few drops of extra virgin olive oil. Mix well and massage into your hair. Leave for 15 - 30 minutes. Wash out with gentle shampoo.

Milk and honey mask
Mix a tablespoon of organic honey in half a cup of organic butter milk or goats milk. Apply to your hair and leave for 15 minutes. Wash out with a mild shampoo.

Honey shine rinse
Mix 1 teaspoon of organic honey into 4 cups of warm water. Make sure it's well dissolved. Use as a rinse after shampooing and don't wash out. Dry as normal for a great shine!
