Missing man found dead off Marin Coast

SAN RAFAEL, CA

John Paul Lennon, 55, was found dead by someone walking on the beach around 2:50 p.m., Marin County coroner's investigator Jeff Sherman said. The U.S. Coast Guard recovered Lennon's body, Sherman said.

The results of an autopsy Monday are pending, Sherman said. Lennon's family reported him missing on Jan. 20. They said he left home for work but never arrived, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said.

Lennon had recently stopped taking prescription medication for an injury, and may have been depressed, according to the sheriff's office.

Lennon's white Toyota Tundra pickup truck was located by the California Highway Patrol in the south parking lot near the tollbooths of the Golden Gate Bridge, according to the sheriff's office.
