That is what Eliot Harvey of South San Francisco found out. He reported one of his license plates stolen two years ago. Then just recently, his car broke down on Highway 101 near the airport; he left his car and went to get help but when he returned, his remaining plate had been confiscated by the California Highway Patrol.

He received conflicting information on why, so he called 7 On Your Side for help.

Harvey was told that if he did not have two license plates on his car, he needed to get a new set.

The CHP says Harvey was told that two years ago, but failed to act.

Harvey tells ABC7 he will get new plates from the DMV.
