At about 1:30 a.m. patrol officers and medical emergency crews responded to Highway 280 just passed a southbound onramp at Geneva Avenue in the city's Glen Park neighborhood, where a vehicle was reported to have struck and killed a pedestrian, CHP officer Nicole Pacheco said.

Preliminary CHP reports indicate that a call to authorities reporting the accident was made from the vehicle that hit the victim in a right lane of Highway 280, and that the pedestrian crashed through the vehicle's windshield upon impact.

A request for a coroner was made by CHP officers at the scene at about 1:35 a.m., Pacheco said.

An ongoing investigation into the accident was being led by CHP officers at the scene at 2:20 a.m.
