Laid off workers may get help with Cobra

A website by the U.S. Department of Labor explains how it works.

Under the president's stimulus plan, those laid off beginning last September who stay enrolled in their employer's health plan through Cobra, may qualify to get up to 65 percent off the premium paid for by the government. The government will pay it for up to nine months.

Generally you qualify for Cobra only if you left a job involuntarily and have no other health coverage.
