Officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on School Street at around 10 a.m. They located a 1994 silver Volkswagen Jetta that had been reported stolen out of Concord on March 21, Pleasanton police said.

Officers saw two people get into the car outside a home in the 4100 block of School Street. The pair drove toward Santa Rita Road, where officers initiated a traffic stop, police said.

When the car stopped, the driver, later identified as 22-year-old Kyle Rivas, allegedly exited the vehicle and ran across Santa Rita Road toward Amador Valley High School, where assisting officers apprehended him, according to police.

A school lockdown that had been initiated was quickly canceled after Rivas was taken into custody, police said.

Rivas was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and booked at Santa Rita Jail.
