Sheriff's helicopter "Henry 1" responded to an emergency call at Stillwater Cove at about 11:15 a.m., landing on the beach to assist Folsom resident Monty Muller.
Muller had apparently been pulled to shore by his diving buddy after he suffered a medical emergency in the water, sheriff's officials said.
He was flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, about a 10-minute flight during which emergency personnel administered medical care, according to the sheriff's department.
The sheriff's department has not released information on Muller's condition.
